Congregation Etz Chaim welcomes our scholar-in-residence, Jeremy Dauber, the Atran Professor of Yiddish Language, Literature, and Culture at Columbia University. He frequently lectures on topics related to Jewish literature, history, humor, and popular culture.
Join Congregation Etz Chaim on Friday, January 27 for Shabbat Services at 6:30 p.m., dinner (by reservation) at 7:15 p.m., and a presentation by their scholar on Jewish Humor: A History in Five Jokes.
Saturday morning Shabbat Services on January 28, at 9:30 a.m. where you will hear Professor Dauber speak about Sholem Aleichem: The Greatest Jewish Comedian of All Time. After services, there will be a kiddush lunch followed by another lecture on An Examination of One of Sholem Aleichem’s Stories.
