As president of the Eastern Cobb County Council (ECCC) of PTAs, Illana Burkhart leads 35 PTAs to serve the schools and find ways to improve the lives of East Cobb students. As Illana explains, “PTA presidents from the East Cobb schools come together to learn how to be better leaders, share ideas and advocate for all kids.” When Cobb County schools closed down due to the COVID-19 virus, Illana tapped into her network of PTA leaders and, in one weekend, they were able to gather $13,000 worth of gift cards to give to families in need.

The best part about being president has been “working with talented leaders that come together to make their school the best it can be.”

Illana has lived in Highland Point for 5 years with her husband, Jason, and their two boys, Barrett, 9, who attends Davis Elementary and Jackson, 13, who attends Mabry Middle School. East Cobb “is more than we hoped for…we never have to leave our bubble,” shares Illana.
