On September 13, 2023, two Kiwanis Clubs teamed up for the 28th Annual Youth Golf charity tournament. The tournament was held at the BridgeMill Athletic  Club in Canton, with planning and preparation for the event starting a year ago.

The fundraising event hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Marietta Golden K (Joe Van Horn, Co-Chair)  and the Lost Mountain Kiwanis Club (Mark Telling, Co-Chair) set record-breaking profits this year.

Joe Van Horn thanked everyone as he said, “On behalf of the Marietta Golden K and the Lost Mountain Foundations, we thank you for your generous contribution and interest in our youth charity programs in 2023.”

The theme of the tournament was “Tee it up for the Kids,” and Joe added, “We are proud to announce that the fundraising efforts for the 2023 “Tee it UP For The Kids” was very successful this year. Over 160 individuals and companies donated, the largest being $3,000.  Thanks to their generosity we were able to raise over $35,000 for distribution to deserving youth charities and local programs.

More than 30 Kiwanis supported charities and youth organizations will benefit from the proceeds of the golf tournament.

Over 128 golfers played in the tournament this year and while most are avid golfers anyway, participation in the tournament had a special bonus for everyone.  Whether or not the individual was a “scratch” golfer or someone who got out there to bat the ball around, everyone who participated can rest assured that every dime of the proceeds will be distributed to a well deserving charity or organization.

The 28th Annual Youth Golf Tournament was a tremendous success this year, however as with anything, there is always room improvement. The golf committees of both clubs will take a short break, then plans get underway for the 29th Annual Youth Charity Golf Tournament.  It is never too early to be thinking about how you can be a part of the golf tournament next year.  Just remember that you too can help “TEE IT UP FOR THE KIDS” in 2024!
