Ava Connell’s debut single and local roots are capturing hearts across the Southeast By Marie Muir.
In August, 19-year-old Ava Connell, a Marietta native, dropped her debut single, “One For The Road,” a contemporary country song that is captivating listeners across the Southeast. The track, a story about bittersweet young love and saying goodbye, is already receiving airplay on several iHeartRadio stations, including 105.7, 96.5, and 94.9 The Bull in Atlanta.
Ava’s music features vulnerable lyrics, reminiscent of Taylor Swift, and a tone akin to Miranda Lambert. Her coming-of-age stories and honest acoustic guitar playing strike a chord with people of all ages. Listen to her new single on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music.
Ava’s lyrics reflect life growing up in East Cobb where her passion for music began at a young age. She remembers listening to Sugarland with her grandfather on the way to school and writing poetry with her grandmother, who nurtured her love for storytelling. By the time Ava was 12, she had picked up a guitar and started taking lessons. One of her first public performances at 14, an impressive show at Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta, marked the beginning of her music career.
Ava attended East Side Elementary, Dickerson Middle, and Walton High School before finishing her high school degree online, a strategy that allowed her to fully dedicate herself to her music career and travel frequently to Nashville for live performances.
Ava has continued to make a name for herself with performances at notable venues such as The Coca Cola Roxy Theater in Atlanta, Whiskey Jam in Nashville, and Nashville Nights at Boxwood Social Hall in Marietta. Her family and friends cheer her on, providing unwavering support as she chases her dreams.
Ava recently earned a prestigious scholarship to the Jeffrey Steele Academy for her songwriting and had the honor of opening for country music legend Pam Tillis. Her hard work and natural talent have not gone unnoticed. Ava recently earned a nomination for Georgia’s Female Artist of the Year 2024 at The Georgia Country Awards. Her music, which shares the journey from girlhood to womanhood, resonates with listeners through authentic lyrics and dynamic melodies.
Ava’s debut single “One For The Road” was produced by Josh Serrato, known for his work with Koe Wetzel, and recorded at Melody Mountain Studios in Texas. The song also features contributions from Rachel Loy on bass, keys, and background vocals. This fall, Ava will head back to the studio to work on her debut EP.
