November is Native American History Month and Cobb County is celebrating in a number of ways. The Georgia Room is hosting James Camp, a Cherokee descendant, to speak about his book, Georgia’s Cherokees: The Epic Tribal Story at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7 in the Georgia Room at the Charles D. Switzer Library, 266 Roswell St. in downtown Marietta.
He will speak on tribal history and culture, internal tribal politics in the 1830s, the Gold Rush and the confrontation with the State of Georgia, the Trail of Tears, and the tribe’s little-known history in the West.
