Cobb Schools students continue to rank among the nation’s top academic achievers, earning prestigious National Merit Scholarships that recognize outstanding scholarship, leadership, and future potential.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation recently announced additional recipients in its 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program, including National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winners and college-sponsored Merit Scholarship recipients. These awards build on corporate-sponsored scholarships announced earlier this spring, bringing additional national recognition to Cobb’s highest-achieving seniors.
Cobb students receiving National Merit $2,500 Scholarships include Eugene Kang and Anna Yang (Harrison High School), Li-Yen Chou (Walton High School), Ishaan Kesar Marwaha (Pope High School), Amulya Patil (Campbell High School), and Vidya Sinha (Wheeler High School).
College-sponsored Merit Scholarship recipients include Nathan Cole Lawson (Wheeler High School) and Sarah Sadegh (Kennesaw Mountain High School), who earned scholarships from the University of Alabama; Carter Kopp and Riley J. Sullivan (Lassiter High School), who received scholarships from Vanderbilt University; John Mackay Leith (Wheeler High School) and Ameen H. Sayeed (Walton High School), who earned scholarships from the University of Georgia; Aubrey Seay (Walton High School), who received a scholarship from Texas A&M University; and Vishruthi Thiyagarajan (Walton High School), who earned a scholarship from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Representing eight Cobb high schools and pursuing careers in fields ranging from medicine and engineering to computer science, business, and materials science, these scholars exemplify the district’s commitment to academic excellence and college readiness.
National Merit Scholarship winners are selected from a highly competitive pool of students nationwide based on exceptional PSAT/NMSQT performance, academic achievement, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
