The Jewish Genealogical Society of Georgia and Congregation Etz Chaim will feature Dr. Eric Goldstein, the Judith London Evans Director of the Tam Institute for Jewish Studies, next Sunday, February 7 at 2 p.m. Dr. Goldstein will be speaking on “When Bubbie Met Zaydie: How Eastern European Jews Decided Whom to Marry, and What That Tells Us About the Lives of our Ancestors.”

Dr. Goldstein’s presentation will detail how marriage patterns and the networking strategies they reflected in the small towns of Eastern Europe before, during and after the mass migrations to North America and other countries.

Eric Goldstein is an Associate Professor at Emory University with joint appointments in the Department of History and the Institute for Jewish Studies. He has been collecting data on the relationships of Jews living in small towns in Lithuania for more than 15 years and spent several weeks in Lithuania last summer researching archival court records.
