It’s here. The 2020 election. Deep breaths. We all know November 3 is the official day to vote, however, early voting began in Cobb County on Monday, October 12.

So EAST COBBER wants to help. While the national presidential election gets most of the attention, there is a lot more on your ballot that will affect your life, representation, pocketbook, local services and more. EAST COBBER continues its tradition of publishing a VOTER GUIDE, this year, due to our COVID-19 circumstances, we are publishing the VOTER GUIDE online only. EAST COBBER has pulled together a brief voters guide to some of those local races. We asked the candidates a few questions and they submitted their answers themselves. We hope the information helps in your process to make an informed decision. The inclusion of candidates’ statements and opinions is solely in the interest of public service and in no way is to be construed as an endorsement by the EAST COBBER, which takes no responsibility for any views or facts stated by the candidates.

Voters in Cobb County will also be asked to renew the one-cent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) when it expires at the end of 2021 for another six years. SPLOST is a one-cent sales tax used for projects in the county. This VOTER GUIDE includes an overview of the Cobb SPLOST 2022 on pages 4 and 5.

We hope you’ll find the VOTER GUIDE useful and interesting. We know there is a lot going on and it can be hard to be informed about every issue and person on the ballot. We hope this makes it a little easier. Good luck voting!
