Included activities will encourage participants of all ages to explore how aviation and the presence of a related military base have propelled our community forward at the speed of flight since the early days of World War II. The event will feature activities and temporary exhibits that explore the changing social, economic, cultural, and physical landscapes throughout Atlanta and North Georgia that are a product of aviation’s influence.
Another engine of change, the honorable Ambassador, civil rights icon, and former Mayor of Atlanta, Mr. Andrew Young, has been a major impetus for transformation in our community. His exemplary lifetime of service to others and commitment to propelling humanity forward serves as an invaluable example for future generations. In celebration of his 90th birthday, his efforts to make our community an international hub, and his connection to the local aviation legacy, the Aviation History & Technology Center is pleased to be honoring Mr. Young as part of the event.
Guests are encouraged to bring their cameras, comfortable shoes, and plenty of questions to experience history on a personal level.
