Georgia Premiere of National Parks Film "Out There" coming to Marietta September 7th

Georgia Premiere of Acclaimed National Parks Film Coming to Marietta
Sunday, September 7 | 4 PM | Marietta Performing Arts Center at Marietta High School
The Friends of Kennesaw Mountain are proud to present the Georgia premiere of the award-winning documentary Out There: A National Parks Story. This exclusive, one-night-only screening brings a powerful national story to local audiences celebrating the healing power of public lands and the people who protect them.
About the Film
Out There: A National Parks Story follows filmmaker Brendan Hall’s seven-year, 10,000-mile journey across the U.S., capturing untold stories from America’s most iconic landscapes. Through intimate interviews, breathtaking cinematography, and a moving original score, the film reimagines what it means to find belonging in the natural world and reveals the parks as places of resilience, healing, and connection across generations and cultures.
Bringing the Film to Marietta
The effort to bring the film to the Atlanta metro area was led by Friends board member Mike Collett, who first viewed it at a national conference in Yosemite. Inspired by its message, Collett worked to secure this special screening and filmmaker visit for the Marietta community. “The film has not had wide distribution, and has never been screened in Georgia, so this is a unique chance to see an extraordinary documentary.”
Supporting Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park
“Kennesaw Mountain is a gem right here in our backyard,” said Donald Olds, President of the Friends group. “It takes all of us to care for this 3,000-acre park where we hike, run, and experience incredible sights along with sacred history.”
The Friends of Kennesaw Mountain is the official nonprofit partner of the park, raising funds for trail improvements, educational programs, and community events. Last year alone, volunteers contributed over 8,400 hours to repair trails, bridges, and common areas. Proceeds from the screening will support continued efforts to protect and enhance the park. Community members are encouraged to donate, volunteer or join a trail workday by visiting the Friends website.
