Installing a child’s car seat may look easy, but the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have found that child restraint systems are often used incorrectly. One study found that 72 percent of nearly 3,500 observed car and booster seats were misused in a way that could be expected to increase a child’s risk of injury during a crash. Safe Kids Cobb County, co-led by WellStar Health System and Cobb Public Health, keeps children safe in our communities by assisting with child safety seat inspections and education.

Having your child’s car seat inspected and making sure you are using it properly is free and takes only 30-45 minutes. Trained technicians will provide you with educational materials and check or assist you with the installation of your car seat. Don’t take a chance–have your child’s car seat inspected as soon as possible.

A permanent Child Safety Seat Inspection Station is located at the Cobb County Safety Village, 1220 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta, GA  30008. The Inspection Station is open Tuesday mornings from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. & Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. by appointment only.  We also check seats on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, 4 p.m. – 8 p.m., and the 3rd Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

To schedule an appointment, try our new online reservation system in both English and Spanish. If you prefer to speak to a Safe Kids representative, please call our bilingual phone line at (770) 514-2369.

According to the CDC, the proper use of age- and size-appropriate car seats can reduce the risk of death in passenger cars by as much as 71 percent for infants and by 54 percent for toddlers ages one to four years.
