The Mobile Prostate Cancer Screening team from Emory’s Winship Cancer Institute, with support from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, is partnering with Cobb County Public Library to bring free prostate cancer screenings directly into the community. Throughout May and June, the Winship mobile screening unit will visit seven Cobb libraries, making this important health service more accessible than ever.

This initiative is designed to remove barriers to care by offering no cost, on the go PSA screenings for men ages 40 to 75. The screening is a simple blood test with no physical exam required, making it quick, convenient, and easy to fit into a busy schedule. Walk ins are welcome, and on site consultations are available.

Prostate cancer remains the most common cancer  and the second leading cause of cancer related deaths  among men in Georgia. This program also focuses on  raising awareness and improving access for men at high er risk, including Black men and those who may face  challenges such as limited transportation or demanding  work schedules.

The first local screening takes place Wednesday, May  6 from 10:30am to 3pm at Switzer Library in Marietta, with an additional date on Sunday, May 24. A community  panel discussion will also be held on May 6 at 1pm.

Additional stops include Gritters Library, West Cobb  Regional, Powder Springs, North Cobb Regional, Sweet water Valley, and South Cobb Regional libraries.
