The Rock Garden. Located behind the Calhoun Seventh-day Adventist Church, a volunteer built, folk art pleasance is a must-see! In addition to the acre of flowers and greenery, there are more than 50 diminutive buildings all crafted from tiny stones, pebbles, shells and odd pieces. The miniature castles and cathedrals provide a perfect photo opportunity for children of all ages!

TUESDAY, JULY 17
Visit BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir. Enjoy hours of beauty, peace, and discovery– a masterpiece of exquisite Indian design and workmanship. Marvel at the intricate marble carvings, participate in Hindu rituals or learn about the world’s oldest living faith – Hinduism.
Open to one and all, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is comprised of 3 types of stone (Turkish Limestone, Italian marble, and Indian pink sandstone). More than 34,000 individual pieces were carved by hand in India, shipped to the USA and assembled in Lilburn like a giant 3-D puzzle.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 18
Georgia Capitol Museum. The Museum seeks to preserve and interpret the history of the Georgia Capitol. The Museum collects, maintains, and exhibits significant artifacts, including historic flags and works of art. Most of the exhibits are located on the fourth floor, but exhibits, memorials, and artwork can be found throughout the building highlighting Georgia’s history. The Fun with Miss Freedom activity provides a focused tour of the museum’s exhibits.
Cost: Free. Anyone 18 years of age or older must show identification to enter the Capitol.

Thursday, JULY 19
Alive in Roswell. This monthly free, family-friendly street festival features live bands, DJ’s, food trucks, hundreds of interactive vendors, kids’ games and entertainment, and enjoys participation from the surrounding historical district boutiques, small businesses and restaurants. The event takes place simultaneously at three different historical district venues: Historic Canton Street, Historic Roswell Square, and the City Hall grounds. Check website for parking information and trolley stops.
Frugal Fun Mom Tip: Historic Roswell Square and the City Hall grounds have the most kid-friendly activities.

Friday, July 20
Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. The magnificent Tudor Revival style home of the Charles Howard Candler family was completed in 1920. Charles Howard was the eldest son of Asa Candler, who founded the Coca-Cola Company in 1892. Take a self-guided tour of the grounds and learn about movies that have been filmed on the grounds, the history of the Callanwolde mansion, the Candler family’s life on the estate, and how the Callanwolde Foundation currently utilizes the mansion.
