Georgia Governor’s Mansion. Public tours are conducted throughout the year. The tour is a hybrid of a guided and self-guided tour. There are docents stationed in each room to teach you about the collection, but you may go from room to room at your own pace. Many of the docents have volunteered at the Mansion under several Governors and are as much a part of the tour as the collection itself.

Time: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays: 10 – 11:30am. It is recommended that you arrive before 11 to allow enough time to complete the tour before the Mansion closes at 11:30am

David J. Sencer CDC Museum. Ever wonder how Centers for Disease Control (CDC) scientists merge old-fashioned detective work with high-tech science to crack the cases of mystery diseases? Get the story here! This unique museum features award-winning permanent and changing exhibitions that focus on a variety of public health topics, as well as the history of CDC.
The current exhibit is titled, The World Unseen: Intersections of Art and Science. This exhibition gathers the work of ten international artists who draw upon microbiology, biotechnology, anatomy, and texts in their investigations of microbes and cells, DNA, history of disease and science, the body, and beauty.

FRIDAY, JULY 26
The Abbey Church at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit. You don’t have to be Catholic to visit the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, Georgia. In fact, the resident monks welcome everyone, regardless of religion. The Monastery is located about 40 minutes east of Atlanta. The Monastery is a great destination for a family bike ride.
The Monastic Life Heritage Center opened in 2011 and is the center of the visitor experience. A museum offers a history of the Trappist monks, as well as history of the Monastery of the Holy Spirit itself. The main museum is located in the barn that was the first living quarters for the monks when they arrived in Conyers from Kentucky.
