154 Anniversary of the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. In June 1864, the armies of Generals William T. Sherman and Joseph E. Johnston clashed in a brutal contest. Celebrate and remember the sacrifice and resolve of both sides during this fierce battle. Activities include talks, walks, hikes, Living History programs (to include artillery, infantry, and civilian programs), children’s games, and more.

MONDAY, JUNE 25
Lane Southern Orchards. A bit of a drive from East Cobb, but you will be rewarded with 6,000 acres of glorious peach orchards and pecan groves, patches of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, muscadines, and more, the farm is bustling with the authentic taste of local Georgia foods. It’s peach season so enjoy a self-guided tour of the packing line, you will see the employees grading freshly picked peaches on an elevated catwalk. Call the day before to make sure the line will be running. Stop by the café and bakery for some yummy treats.

Visit the Waffle House Museum. The Waffle House Museum is the site of the very first Waffle House restaurant, which opened in 1955. Step back in time when you walk into the restaurant, which has been restored to its original appearance and features Waffle House memorabilia from the past 60 years. Blue Heron Nature Preserve. The preserve is a 30-acre haven for nature in an urban environment dedicated to preserving the natural and native world that exists within the Preserve. Located in Buckhead, it serves as a home for a variety of wildlife and native plant species with trails to enjoy.
