In order to compensate for canceled Lenten Fish Dinners and subsequent lost revenues due to the Corona Virus pandemic, Our Lady of LaSalette Knights of Columbus Council #8376  from the Catholic Church of St. Ann initiated a beard growing contest for its membership as a “Fund Razor.” Like medieval knights of old, who wore beards as a sign of honor, the Knights either committed not to shave until the local quarantine period ended, or, if unable to actually participate, pledged the dollar-a-day amount regardless. As a result, the Council promises to meet their charitable obligations for the church and the community. Even St. Ann’s parish priest, Father Joseph Aquino, M.S., a member of the Council, joined in the fun, as did one of our gray beard Knights who resides in a senior living facility. Shown here are several of the hirsute Knights who took the challenge to pledge and who grew beards. $2,000 was donated to fund various parish ministries that needed support.
