A Special Primary election for the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) Districts 2 and 3 is scheduled to take place on June 17, 2025
What to know:
  • This special primary is held by the Democratic and Republican parties to nominate their candidates for the ensuing November Special Election.
  • Voters in Georgia do not register with a party, but for this primary, they will choose either a Democratic or Republican ballot.
  • The statewide Special Election for these PSC seats will be held on November 4, 2025.
  • If a candidate does not receive at least 50% of the vote in the primary, a runoff election will be held on July 15, 2025.
  • The Special Election for District 2 will determine a term ending in 2030, and the District 3 election will be for a term ending in 2026. 
Candidates for the Special Primary (June 17, 2025):
  • District 2:
    • Republican: Tim Echols (incumbent), Lee Muns.
    • Democratic: Alicia Johnson.
  • District 3:
    • Republican: Fitz Johnson (incumbent).
    • Democratic: Daniel Blackman*, Peter Hubbard, Robert Jones, Keisha Sean Waites. Note: Daniel Blackman was initially ruled ineligible by an administrative law judge, but is reviewing legal options.

Effective June 17, several Cobb County polling places have changed for the primary. Affected voters will be mailed new precinct cards. Voters are strongly encouraged to verify their polling place prior to each election, as locations may change.
