The Junior League of Cobb-Marietta will host its second annual Gingerbread House Competition and Showcase Nov. 19-20 at the Hyatt Regency Suites Atlanta Northwest in Marietta. Amateur and professional gingerbread house builders are encouraged to sign up for the competition.

The Gingerbread House Competition and Showcase includes three signature events – Morning with Santa, the Gingerbread Gala and Afternoon with Santa. Gingerbread house competition prizes will be presented at the Gingerbread Gala and awarded in four categories – adult, teen, youth and professional. Entries will be judged by local celebrities on overall appearance, creativity and degree of difficulty. A People’s Choice Award will also be awarded.

Gingerbread houses will be on display during the Morning with Santa event through the Afternoon with Santa event. There is no charge to enter a gingerbread house into the competition, and entry forms are due Friday, Nov. 4.

About the weekend’s events

Gingerbread House Competition and Showcase activities begin with Morning with Santa from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, and end with Afternoon with Santa on Sunday, Nov. 20, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 per child, which includes a photograph with Santa Claus, a keepsake frame and other crafts for the holidays.

The Gingerbread Gala will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and features a silent auction, plated dinner, live jazz ensemble and entertainment provided by Preferred Sound Productions. Tickets to the Gingerbread Gala are $75 per person, and cocktail attire is suggested.
