Parents, are you worried about your child’s success in school? Whether they’re lacking confidence, struggling with executive functioning, or are overwhelmed, David Brookshire can help. A dedicated educator with 14 years of experience, David recently relocated to East Cobb from Nashville,  Tennessee, with his wife and two children. This is his second year at Dogden Middle School,  where he serves as a special education and reading teacher. David holds a degree in psychology from The University  of Akron , a Master’s of Public Health from Nova Southeastern  University , and is an accredited Wholistic NeuroGrowth Learning  Success Coach. He founded Aligned Learning and Growth, a  one-on-one learning success coaching program designed to help  adolescents and teens learn how to learn as they build confidence,  independence, and resilience.

David’s in-person and virtual coaching goes beyond  traditional tutoring, utilizing principles of neuroplasticity and  addressing underlying causes of learning deficits, engaging the  student as a collaborator in their own learning. By tailoring his  approach to each student’s individual needs, David offers three  primary programs:

  • Reading comprehension: Equips students with skills to  understand and analyze complex texts.
  • Executive functioning: Focuses on planning, time  management, and study skills, empowering students to  become independent learners.
  • Life coaching: Addresses challenges like anxiety, fear, and  emotional regulation, fostering resilience and self-confidence. David helps students excel academically while also developing the tools they need for long-term success. “Once we align their strengths with purpose and guide  them with the right tools, students become confident, resilient  individuals capable of creating a life filled with success and joy,”  he explains.
