Mah Jongg has surged back into the cultural spotlight in recent years, and the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta is tapping into that momentum with a community-wide Mah Jongg tournament on Sunday, October 18:
• EVENT & REGISTRATION LINK
◦ Open to the entire community
◦ Registration deadline is Friday, September 18th (COB)
The event brings together players of all skill levels, from lifelong tile enthusiasts to recent converts to the game’s clicking, strategic charm, for a day of friendly competition, connection, and prizes.
• Tournament play follows National Mah Jongg League rules using the official 2026 NMJL card, with three 75-minute rounds and table rotations throughout the day.
• Prizes go to top scorers in first, second, and third place, as well as special hands.
• The day also includes a buffet lunch, raffle and door prizes, swag bags, and plenty of friendly trash talk along the way.
• Check-in and coffee begin at 8:30 am, with play starting promptly at 9:45 am and wrapping with prizes and closing around 2:45 pm.
The tournament is open to the community, but advance registration is required (no walk-ins). A waiting list will be maintained for alternates. This is a great opportunity to capture a slice of the Mah Jongg renaissance happening in living rooms and community centers across the country, right here in Atlanta.
