High schoolers from all around East Cobb chose to spend their Spring Break showing Jesus Christ’s love through serving others. Pictured here are 9th and 10th graders from Mt. Bethel UMC working at a construction site at the New Haitian Mission Baptist Church in Nassau, Bahamas. Their service was focused on Haitian refugees who had to leave their country after the devastating earthquake in 2010. These refugees have formed a community in the Bahamas and established a church. The group spent the week not only helping with church construction, but also teaching Vacation Bible School at two preschools, visiting a children’s emergency shelter, serving meals at a homeless shelter, visiting people in the community and worshipping with the Haitian community.

Mount Bethel United Methodist Church is located on Lower Roswell Road in Marietta / East Cobb.

This post was humbly submitted by Carmen Abernathy, a freelance writer for EAST COBBER magazine. Carmen was one of the chaperones that accompanied these teenagers.
