The Northeast Cobb Business Association (NCBA) is proud to present the sixth annual 5K-9 road race and introduce the Barking Lot street market. The sixth annual NCBA 5K-9 will take place this Saturday, June 12, at Piedmont Church, 570 Piedmont Road, Marietta/E. Cobb at 8 AM. The 5K route starts and finishes on the beautiful campus of Piedmont Church off of Canton Road and will be followed by a Puppy Trot for children 10 and under. Feel free to bring your dog out to walk or run at this great event for a great cause. This great fundraiser is a pet-friendly, socially-distanced event which raises money to purchase a service animal for Cobb County students and residents.

The 5K-9 Race was founded when the Cobb County Sheriff’s office lost one of his beloved canines. NCBA wanted to start a fundraiser to aid the purchase of a service dog for the Sheriff’s office. Thus, the 5K-nine race was born. Since its founding, the 5K-9 event has raised money to provide service and support dogs for the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office, the Cobb County Police Department, a U.S. military veteran, a student with autism, and most recently the Cobb County District Attorney’s office.

In addition to this amazing fundraising event, NCBA is thrilled to announce the addition of our Barking Lot. The Barking Lot will be a pet and family-friendly street market with all kinds of vendors, activities, and food. Their hope is that the Barking Lot serves the community as a socially distanced, open-aired event to feed all our need for a little bit of community and a lot of doing good, especially these chaotic times.

This year, for the first time in the event history, the NCBA will be placing two service dogs. The first placement is with a Cobb County student who struggles with autism. The second service dog will be donated to a young woman living in Cobb County who has suffered multiple car accidents leaving her with partial paralysis.

NCBA is very passionate about and active in the community. This event is so much more than an opportunity to raise funds to provide a service animal – it is their desire that this event would also provide the community with an opportunity to get out of their houses and engage together, safely.

The cost to run in the race is $30 before June 12, date of race registration is $35 and begins at 7 AM at the front of Piedmont Church.  For runner registration please click here.

To participate in the Puppy Trot for children ages eight and younger is $15.
