Are you looking for real-world journalism experience? Do you want to learn about community journalism and collect bylines at the same time? EAST COBBER is looking for talented, organized, and committed interns. EAST COBBER media offers an internship each semester (fall, spring, summer). If you are looking to gain invaluable real-world media industry experience, you can do it in your backyard!
This internship position is a great introduction into the publishing world, and includes opportunities to interact with all departments. Get ready for a fast-moving and dynamic summer! You will have the opportunity to build your portfolio and resume by writing magazine stories for print, as well as blog posts, and covering a variety of local topics. You’ll also gain invaluable fact-checking and proofreading experience, perform editorial research, take photos, and work on other editorial tasks. There are no coffee runs in this internship—unless they’re for yourself.
Summer internship is available May, June, and/or August. 10-15/hours a week. Must be able to work independently. Skills preferred include a proven ability to write clearly, typing, some photography, and familiarty with social media platforms. Intern will learn feature writing, production, promotions, and how to perform on deadline. Internship is available to college students, recent grads, graduate students, and those looking to change careers.
