What started out as a simple Thanksgiving dinner served as an expression of support and encouragement to a local police department back in 2013, has grown into a year-round effort to support the many law enforcement agencies in Cobb County and other nearby jurisdictions, and to include firefighters, 911 call centers, and other public safety first responders.

Blue Thanksgiving, was started by Kim Peace Hill and her husband, Douglas A. Hill over six years ago, and is now a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose primary mission is to support the men and women in blue who are on the front lines every day. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Blue Thanksgiving has delivered over 1,100 meals and given out 5,000 face masks and 750 bottles of hand sanitizer to various law enforcement agencies and other first responders in our community. Most of the meals have been purchased from locally-owned restaurants in an effort to support those small businesses while providing tangible support to the men and women who protect our lives and our property.

Blue Thanksgiving is asking for the community’s support for their 1st Annual “Light the Night” Luminary event. Whether you will be celebrating the Christmas Holiday, honoring the memory of a loved one, or you wish to join us in honoring front line heroes, we hope that you and your neighbors will help make our luminary event something beautiful that you will remember and cherish.
