Since she was a child, Britta Patellis has been an artist. After graduating from Walton High School, she enrolled in art school to pursue her passion. She studied traditional mediums such as drawing and painting, but over time, her real love became wood carving. Her first carving was a carousel horse in 1993, and in 1995 she started her own business, Britta’s Chisel Works.

Today, Britta’s work consists of custom wood carvings, pet drawings and refinishing furniture. Her custom carvings are often requested for antique reproductions; other popular carvings include horse heads for antique children’s barber chairs, carousel horses and pet carvings. Her talent allows her to create one of a kind items for her clients such as her unique wooden purses.

Britta works as a vet tech at Animal Hospital of East Cobb, and her love of animals led her to start creating custom pet carvings and pencil sketches of pets. After a thorough consultation and several photos, she is able to accurately capture a beloved pet’s personality and physical traits. These carvings and drawings are a one-of-a kind tribute to your four-legged family member.

A large part of Britta’s business is refinishing furniture. Her skill can completely transform even the most worn pieces into beautiful and functional furniture once again. Typical lead time for refinishing items is three weeks.
