Upon receipt of any domestic animal impounded, wearing a tag, the Cobb County Animal Control Division will make diligent efforts to ascertain the identity of the animal’s owner and, if identified, shall, within 24 hours of receipt, telephone the owner. It shall send notice of impoundment to
the owner by mail.

All animals impounded shall be kept at the Animal Control Center for a period of not less than 5 working days unless redeemed within that period. Any animal not redeemed shall be considered abandoned to the Animal Control Division, in which all rights of ownership shall vest in the Animal Control Division; and the owner shall have no further claim to such animal.

The owner of any animal impounded may regain possession of the animal upon payment of applicable fees: $30 reclaim fee; $5/each day the animal was in the pound; and, any medical fees incurred. For more information call: 770- 428-5678.
