Nominations are now being accepted for this year’s Citizen of the Year Awards! The Citizen of the Year Awards, created by Cobb County civic clubs and co-sponsored by the Cobb Chamber Area Councils and Cobb County business associations, are presented to extraordinary individuals for the work they have done in Cobb County and whose impact through the years will be recognized and regarded as a role model.

Qualified candidates should demonstrate definable, exceptional deeds that showcase a dedication to making Cobb County or one of its areas a better place to live, work and play. Nominees may have a history of impacting the community, in addition to notable contributions made throughout the course of this year.  The individual should demonstrate definable, exceptional deeds that showcase a dedication to making Cobb County or one of its areas a better place to live, work and play. The individual may have a history of impacting the community, in addition to notable impact throughout the course of this year.

Awards are given to deserving individuals based on local area nominations in the following areas: Acworth, East Cobb, Kennesaw, Marietta, Smyrna, South Cobb and West Cobb. All nominations must be submitted by Friday, September 24. The East Cobb Citizen of the Year will be announced at the Cobb Chamber’s East Cobb council breakfast meeting on November 18.

The selection for Citizen of the Year recipients is not limited to a resident of a specific area, and does not have to be a member of a specific organization such as the Cobb Chamber Area Councils, the Cobb Chamber, or a Cobb County business or civic association.
