The 10th annual Ring the Bell Benefit for CURE Childhood Cancer is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, from 6 pm to 9 pm at Glover Park Brewery in Marietta. This family-friendly event features activities for all ages – from a lively auction, to kids’ activities, to inspiring moments, including the symbolic ringing of the bell that children who finish cancer treatment use to mark their victory.
Proceeds from the event will fund Reese’s Fund, a named fund with CURE Childhood Cancer that is dedicated to advancing solid tumor research and honoring the medical team that saved Reese’s life.
Diagnosed at just 10 months old with stage 4 malignant sacrococcygeal teratoma, Reese underwent chemotherapy and surgery at Children’s Healthcare of Alanta. Today, she is a thriving 11-year-old who loves playing soccer, guitar and participating in her school plays.
Reese’s Fund at CURE is an extension of Reese’s MaGIC Fund originally established by Reese’s parents, Marietta residents Jenn and Grant Rivera, to honor the doctors who cared for Reese and to support the work of her medical team including Dr. Thomas Olson and Dr. Megan Durham.
The family’s cancer journey may be familiar to Atlantans because it unfolded on STAR 94 FM in 2016 when Jenn was an on-air personality with the station. The Atlanta community supported Reese when she was in treatment and has continued to help children in their fight against cancer long after Reese was declared cancer free.
“Ring the Bell is a great family evening where you don’t have to dress up; you just have to show up,” said Jenn Hobby Rivera, Brand and Communications Director for CURE Childhood Cancer. “Our family is thrilled to continue this event and bring hope to as many families as possible in their cancer journey.”
Advance tickets are $25 for adults ($35 at the door), $10 for children ages 4 to 12, and children age 3 and under are free. Attendees can also sponsor tickets for a family going through the childhood cancer journey for $50 per family.
