Each year, the Joyce and Ramie Tritt Family Foundation bring internationally-renowned scholars to the Etz Chaim Community. We are pleased to welcome Jeremy Dauber, the Atran Professor of Yiddish Language, Literature, and Culture at Columbia University. He also serves as Director of Columbia University’s Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies. Professor Dauber is an author and frequently lectures on topics related to Jewish literature, history, humor and popular culture.
Join us Friday evening, January 27, at 8:15 p.m. as he discusses Jewish Humor: A History in Five Jokes.
Saturday morning, January 28, at 9:30 a.m. he will discuss Sholem Aleichem: The Greatest Jewish Comedian of All Time during Shabbat Services.
Saturday at 12:45 p.m. for An Examination of One of Sholem Aleichem’s Stories.
All are welcome. If you would like to join us for Friday evening Services at 6:30 p.m., all are welcome. There will also be a dinner at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, which is by reservation and is $30 per person for a strictly kosher meal.
