On Tuesday, December 1, Georgians will show their support for the work and worth of nonprofits during the eighth annual Georgia Gives on #GivingTuesday. From midnight to midnight, donors statewide are encouraged to visit GAgives.org and give to their favorites of more than 3,000 participating nonprofits. Causes represent the full scope of nonprofits that make Georgia rich in social and cultural care including education, animal homelessness, the environment, youth development, healthcare and more.

In 2017, the Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN) expanded the scope of their annual day of giving, by uniting Georgia Gives Day—now known as GAgives— with the global #GivingTuesday movement.

Since 2012, Georgia Gives Day has garnered nearly 160,000 donations and raised more than $28 million. Last year Georgia Gives Day and #GivingTuesday raised $7.8 million!

To date, GCN has secured more than $1 million from generous backers in the corporate and foundation arenas to boost nonprofit and donor participation in GAgives.

They’ve organized daylong giveaways and matching opportunities for top performers in particular cause areas and designated “Power Hours,” prizes for pre-event social media campaigns, and more, each increasing excitement and engagement. Beyond dollars raised, GAgives provides a special, high-profile opportunity each year to call attention to the work and worth of Georgia’s nonprofit sector, spotlighting all it does to make the state a great place to live, work, and play.

Here are some local non-profits participating this year:

  • Communities in Schools of Marietta/Cobb Counties
  • East Cobb Robotics
  • The Georgia Ballet
  • Good Mews
  • Junior League of Cobb-Marietta
  • Simple Needs GA, and
  • VOICE Today.
