Veterans Day, celebrated this year on Monday, November 11, gives Americans the opportunity to celebrate the bravery and sacrifice of all U.S. veterans. Deceased veterans are also remembered on Veterans Day, but the day is set aside to thank and honor living veterans who served honorably in the military – in wartime or peacetime. Here are some local events planned to commemorate those who served our country.

Veterans Day Salute

Celebrating and honoring the members of our armed forces with a program of patriotic music, a screening of Memories of War documentary, and a live Question & Answer with local WWII veterans.

The Beverly Belles

The Beverly Belles are an Andrews Sisters-inspired singing group who rock a vintage style, upbeat patriotic performances, and are perfect for all ages. The Belles will perform various songs from the 1930’s through the 1960’s, as well as many beloved patriotic and military favorites. Military personnel will receive a discount on tickets. Cobb Wind Symphony Veterans Day Concert

Marietta 15th Annual Veterans Day Parade
November 11 • 11am
Roswell Street Baptist Church, 50 N Park Square NE
Presented by the Kiwanis Club of Marietta and the City of Marietta, the parade begins at Roswell Street Baptist Church and ends at Marietta Square. The patriotic parade includes marching bands, drill teams, floats, military vehicles and veterans’ organizations. This year’s Grand Marshall is Captain Charles E. Polk III, U.S. Coast Guard Reserve (Retired). After the parade, spectators are invited to listen to Grand Marshall Captain Charles E. Polk III’s keynote speech at the center stage on the square. Spectators are invited to pay tribute to the men and women who have fought to keep our freedom during a ceremony on the Square at 12 Noon.

Veterans Day Tribute

Sandy Springs’ annual Veterans’ Day Celebration will feature keynote speaker U.S. District Court Judge J.P. Boulee. Retired WSB-TV anchor John Pruitt will return as this year’s emcee. The event is free and all are invited to attend to honor our veterans.

Kennesaw Veterans Day Luncheon

Kennesaw city officials and staff will honor America’s service men and women with a complimentary lunch. All veterans and active military service members are invited to attend. No identification will be required.

Acworth Veterans Day Ceremony

Veterans Memorial at Patriots Point – Cauble Park 4425 Beach Street, Acworth
The ceremony to honor veterans is held each year at the Veterans Memorial at Patriots Point in Cauble Park. Veterans and current servicemen give comments on what service to the country means to them. Engraved pavers dedicated to those who have served in the armed forces that have been purchased since the previous Memorial Day will be presented at the event.

Veterans Day Candlelight Ceremony

The Park at City Center, 101 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock
Presented by the City of Woodstock, American Legion Post 316, the Marine Corps League Detachment 1311, and the Warrior’s Watch Riders, all are invited to join in celebrating and honoring our veterans for their patriotism and the sacrifices they have made for our country. There will be a coffee and donut social following the ceremony.

67th Annual Military Appreciation Luncheon

Tickets: $60/person
Local businesses, community members and military representatives salute our local military. The program includes a salute to fallen soldiers, recognition of military personnel, and the presentation of the 2019 USO Patriot Award. Keynote Speaker: U.S. Senator David Perdue, for the 116th Congress.
