Veterans Day celebrated this year on Saturday, November 11, gives Americans the opportunity to honor the  bravery and sacrifice of all U.S. veterans. Deceased veterans are also remembered on Veterans Day, but  the day is set aside to thank and honor living veterans who served honorably in the military – in wartime or  peacetime. Here are some local events planned to commemorate those who served our country.

 

VETERANS DAY TRIBUTE &  VETRANS PARK DEDICATION 

November 10 • 10am • Free 

City Springs, Beyers Theatre 

1 Galambos Way, Sandy Springs 

The community is invited to attend Sandy Springs’  annual Veterans’ Day Celebration. After the tribute in  Byers Theatre, attendees will be escorted across the  street for the dedication ceremony to officially open the  Sandy Springs Veterans Park. Immediately following the  dedication of Veterans Park, the community is invited to  celebrate the United States Marine Corps’ 248th birthday.  This event will be held in the CityBar. KENNESAW VETERANS DAY LUNCHEON

November 10 • 12pm • Free 

Ben Robertson Community Center,  

2753 Watts Drive, Kennesaw 

Kennesaw city officials and staff will honor America’s  service men and women with a complimentary lunch. All  veterans and active military service members are invited  to attend. VETERANS DAY BREAKFAST & CEREMONY

November 11 • 10am• Free  

Roswell Area Park, 10495 Woodstock Road, Roswell

This event will include breakfast for veterans and their  families followed by an honor walk and ceremony at  the Roswell Area Park Pond. Breakfast is free for veterans  and their families, registration is required. Honor walk at  9am. You do not have to attend breakfast to attend the  walk and ceremony. MARIETTA VETERANS DAY PARADE

November 11 • 11am • Free 

Begins near the American Legion on Gresham Ave and  march up Roswell Street towards the Marietta Square and  back down Lawrence Street. The patriotic parade in cludes marching bands, drill teams, floats, military vehicles  and veterans’ organizations. The parade will have both  Marietta and Cobb County schools represented by their  bands and their JROTC units. ACWORTH VETERANS DAY CEREMONY

November 11 • 2pm • Free 

Veterans Memorial at Patriots Point – Cauble Park  4425 Beach Street, Acworth 

The ceremony to honor veterans is held each year at the  Veterans Memorial at Patriots Point in Cauble Park. Presented by the City of Woodstock, American Legion  Post 316, the Marine Corps League Detachment  1311, and the Warrior’s Watch Riders, all are invited  to join in celebrating and honoring our veterans for  their patriotism and the sacrifices they have made for  our country.
