Veterans Day celebrated this year on Tuesday, November 11, gives Americans the opportunity to honor the  bravery and sacrifice of all U.S. veterans. Deceased veterans are also remembered on Veterans Day, but  the day is set aside to thank and honor living veterans who served honorably in the military – in wartime or  peacetime. Here are some local events planned to commemorate those who served our country.

 

KENNESAW VETERANS DAY LUNCHEON November 7 • 12pm • Free 

Ben Robertson Community Center, 

2753 Watts Drive, Kennesaw 

The City of Kennesaw will honor America’s the service of  military members past and present with a complimentary  lunch. All veterans and active military service members  are invited to attend. More info: www.kennesaw-ga.gov/ kennesaw-event/veterans-luncheon. 

MARIETTA VETERANS DAY PARADE November 8 • 10:40am • Free 

Begins at Roswell Street Baptist Church and makes its way  to Marietta Square, with the goal of arriving at 11:11 am.  The route travels west along Roswell Street, continues  north on East Park Square past Glover Park, then ends at  the intersection of Cherokee Street and Lawrence Street.  The patriotic parade includes marching bands, drill teams,  floats, military vehicles and veterans’ organizations. The  parade will have both Marietta and Cobb County schools  represented by their bands and their JROTC units. Thirty or  more parade entries are anticipated along with a display  of military vehicles. At Noon a ceremony will be at Glover  Park with guest speakers, a gun salute and Taps. SIX FLAGS CELEBRATES VETERANS 

November 9-10 • 11am-6pm 

Veterans and active military members receive free park  admission, along with discounted tickets for friends and  family, plus patriotic live entertainment to honor and  celebrate those who serve our country. More info:  www.sixflags.com/overgeorgia/events. 

COBB WIND SYMPHONY  VETERANS DAY CONCERT 

November 9• 3pm • Free 

Lassiter Concert Hall

VETERANS DAY HONOR WALK & CEREMONY November 11 • 8:30am• Free 

Roswell City Hall, Faces of War Memorial

ACWORTH VETERANS DAY CEREMONY November 11 • 2pm • Free 

Veterans Memorial at Patriots Point – Cauble Park 4425 Beach Street, Acworth

WOODSTOCK VETERANS DAY CEREMONY November 11 • 6pm • Free 

The Park at City Center • 223 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock

Presented by the City of Woodstock, American Legion  Post 316, the Marine Corps League Detachment 1311,  and the Warrior’s Watch Riders, all are invited to join in  celebrating and honoring our veterans for their patriotism  and the sacrifices they have made for our country.  There will be a coffee and cookie social following  the ceremony.
